Circumpolar Pendulums

For this smaller installation, I have made five red ceramic altar boxes with accompanying pendulums. The pendulums are wire wrapped crystal points and were beaded by hand. The crystal points I chose as weights on the bottom of the pendulum are citrine, amethyst, and clear quartz for their healing and grounding capabilities. The pendulums also include beads that are handmade out from camelia flowers from my garden, as well as opalite and tigers eye beads. The interior of each box is painted in oil and features a star constellation. I chose the five main constellations that can be seen from the northern hemisphere year-round, called circumpolar constellations. These constellations are often used as navigational tools and I was interested in depicting them alongside the pendulum, which I use as a navigational tool in my own life. Together the boxes and the pendulums become new objects for grounding and healing.
